In October 2008, I left the corporate world behind to contemplate a different kind of future and the journey is both rewarding and challenging.
On an impulse I signed up to NaNoWriMo on the 1 November 2008. At the time, I had never heard of this global event nor had I ever written a novel. But I was immediately inspired by the WriMo challenge – a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Why not take a risk, put myself out there, do something new and different. This was to be the start of my journey to rediscover my inner creativity.
Originally, I set up this site to record my experience of Nano. Nano 08 came and went. During post nano blues, I set myself another challenge – to expand my vocabulary by randomly selecting words from the dictionary and writing a creative piece using the word. Before long, I had run out of enthusiasm for writing.
As the months rolled on, my creative pursuit led to painting and drawing which I started to record on my Flickr site. The Virtual Hippe site was abandoned – for a while.
However November rolled around once more, and again I have signed up to Nanowrimo. Once again I have signed up. I will attempt to restore this site.
My online nom de plume is a reference to a friend’s description of me – virtually a hippie dressed up in a corporate suit. There may not be a corporate suit anymore, but the journey of discovery through creative avenues has been just as challenging but even more rewarding!
Thank you for visiting Virtual Hippe – (the writing arm of Paloetic).

Travel well!
Thanks for your comment on my blog.

I think there are many more closet-hippies in corporate suits
Thanks for dropping by my blog! And congrats on winning Nano!
